Many people imagine healing as a straight road.

You go through something difficult, you process it, and eventually you move forward. Once you have healed, the pain should disappear and life should return to normal.

But real healing rarely works that way.

More often, healing feels like waves.

There are days when everything feels calm and clear. You feel peaceful and steady, as if you have finally moved past what once hurt you.

And then…

Something shifts.

A memory returns.

A feeling resurfaces.

A small moment triggers something deeper.

And suddenly, you find yourself thinking:

“I thought I was okay… why does this feel like it’s coming back?”

In those moments, it can feel like you are moving backward.

But healing is not moving backward.

It is moving deeper.

Why Healing Happens in Cycles

Our minds process experiences in layers.

Sometimes you understand something logically before you fully feel it emotionally.
