There is a space in life that doesn’t have a clear name.
It’s not the past anymore.
But it’s not fully the future either.
It’s the in-between.
And for a long time, I didn’t know how to sit in that space.
Because nothing feels fully certain there.
Nothing feels fully defined.
You’re no longer who you used to be.
But you’re not fully who you’re becoming yet.
And that can feel uncomfortable.
When the old version of you no longer fits
One of the first things I noticed in this season was this.
The version of me I used to be…
no longer felt aligned.
The way I used to think.
The way I used to respond.
The way I used to move through life.
It didn’t feel wrong.
But it didn’t feel like me anymore either.
And that realization can be confusing.
Because when the old version of you starts to fade…
you’re left with space.
And at first, that space feels uncertain.
When the new version of you isn’t fully clear yet
At the same time, I couldn’t fully define who I was becoming.
I could feel the shift.
I could feel that something was changing.
But I didn’t have clear answers.
I didn’t have a fully formed identity to step into.
And that’s what makes the in-between so challenging.
You don’t have something solid to hold onto.
You’re just… in it.
Feeling your way through.
Learning as you go.
The discomfort of not knowing
This season brought up a lot of discomfort.
Not because something was wrong.
But because I was used to clarity.
Used to knowing what to do.
Used to having direction.
And suddenly…
things felt open.
Unclear.
Unstructured.
And my first instinct was to fix it.
To figure it out.
To rush into the next version of myself.
But I’ve learned something important.
You can’t rush becoming.
When everything slows down
For me, this space became more visible when life slowed down.
When I wasn’t constantly moving or distracting myself.
When I had more time to think, feel, and reflect.
That’s when I started noticing everything more clearly.
My thoughts.
My patterns.
My emotions.
The things I had been carrying.
And without distractions…
I had to sit with it.
Not avoid it.
Not rush past it.
Just sit with it.
The quiet work of transformation
The in-between is not empty.
Even if it feels like it.
There is a lot happening beneath the surface.
You’re unlearning.
Releasing.
Processing.
Becoming more aware.
You’re letting go of what no longer fits.
Even if you don’t fully know what’s replacing it yet.
And that work is quiet.
No one really sees it.
But it’s happening.
And it matters.
Learning to stay in the in-between
One of the hardest parts of this season is staying.
Not rushing out of it.
Not forcing clarity.
Not trying to become someone new overnight.
Just staying.
Allowing things to unfold.
Allowing yourself to change at your own pace.
And that requires trust.
Trust that this space has a purpose.
Trust that something is forming.
Even if you can’t see it yet.
You don’t need to have it all figured out
For a long time, I thought I needed to know exactly who I was becoming.
To have a clear vision.
A clear identity.
A clear plan.
But now I see it differently.
You don’t need to have everything figured out to be growing.
You don’t need full clarity to be moving forward.
Sometimes, growth looks like uncertainty.
Like questioning.
Like exploring.
And that’s okay.
The version of you that is forming
Even if you can’t fully see it yet…
there is a version of you forming in this space.
A version that is more aware.
More aligned.
More honest.
More connected to yourself.
And that version isn’t created by rushing.
It’s created by allowing.
By staying.
By being present in the process.
A message for you, if you feel in-between
If you feel like you’re in between versions of yourself…
like you don’t fully recognize who you are anymore…
like things feel unclear and unsettled…
I want you to know this.
You’re not lost.
You’re transitioning.
You’re becoming.
And this space you’re in…
it’s not a mistake.
It’s part of the process.
Final reflection
The space between who I was and who I’m becoming is not something to escape.
It’s something to move through.
Even when it feels uncomfortable.
Even when it feels uncertain.
Even when it doesn’t make sense yet.
Because this space…
is where transformation happens.
Not loudly.
Not instantly.
But quietly.
Gradually.
And one day, you’ll look back and realize…
this was the season that changed you.
Not into someone completely different.
But into someone more you.
